Ascend

Ascend the Musical

After the crucifixion of Christ, Mary Magdalene arrives at his tomb to anoint his body only to find the tomb empty. The resurrected Jesus appears to Magdalene and tells her to summon the apostles as well as his mother.

Peter, who thinks he is to blame for Christ’s death, ridicules Mary for announcing the resurrection, while other apostles remain steadfast in their resolve. Judas proclaims his love to Mary Magdalene and asks for hers in return. Judas then commits suicide after his betrayal of Jesus is revealed.

When Jesus ascends to heaven, he leaves them messages of love to carry in their hearts as they go out into the world to spread the Gospel.

"Think of it as Jesus Christ Superstar Part 2."

Like “Godspell” and “Jesus Christ Superstar,” Zabadal-Dayton’s musical takes its inspiration from the Bible, and as the title implies, it chronicles the story of Jesus Christ and his apostles after his resurrection on Easter Sunday.

" God has been guiding this project from the get go. He continues to do so. I'm just an instrument for him. "
